Martin Brennan Addresses Global Citizenship at Fall Lodestar

Executive Director Martin Brennan was the featured speaker at the fall Lodestar Program, addressing the topic of Responsibilities of Global Citizenship: Lessons for International House. Residents and alumni mingled at a reception in the Great Hall before enjoying a Mediterranean buffet in the Auditorium. Resident Council President, Nathaniel Rice, served as the master of ceremonies and Martha Hertelendy, Vice Chair of the Board, introduced Martin. For many alumni, this was the first opportunity to meet Martin and hear anecdotes from his diplomatic posts around the world.

Following Martin’s talk, there was a lively question and answer session. Guests were entertained by residents Sunny Lai and Jennifer Yazdi. Jennifer, whose parents are from Iran, sang a Persian song called Pol in Farsi meaning bridge. The chorus contains a particularly meaningful message for I-House: “Let us put aside our differences and build a bridge of forgiveness between us.”
