A. Richard Newton, professor and dean of the College of Engineering at UC Berkeley, died on January 2, 2007, at the age of 55. Newton, who lived at I-House in 1975-76, was a pioneer in integrated circuit design and electronic systems architecture, and a visionary leader in the technology industry.
