Every year, International House honors individuals whose lives reflect the mission of the House. Below are just a few of the past honorees.
Honorees:
	Martha Sam Hertelendy 2006 International House Global Citizen of the Year award for her dedicated service to international organizations throughout the Bay Area.
	Rita Moreno 2005 Gala Award Recipient for transcending barriers of discrimination "Why are we killing each other? We should be living together peacefully just as the students do living in International House."
	Maxine Hong Kingston 2004 Gala Award for her literary contributions to promoting cross-cultural understanding
	Harry Belafonte 1994 Gala Award for his distinguished work with UNICEF, the Peace Corps, and his valued contributions to cultural exchanges and interracial understanding. "If any two human beings should leave this place and understand the importance of difference and put themselves for the rest of their lives in that service, then International House will have well achieved its purpose and will have given the human family a great service."
	George Shultz U.S. Secretary of State "International House is a continuing and successful experiment, in the recognition of diversity, in the creative use of diversity, and in the governance of diversity."
