BOARD WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS
he International
House Board of Directors welcomed seven new members at its October
meeting.
akahide
Akiyama currently serves as the General Manager of the San Francisco
Agency Office of the Industrial Bank of Japan. He has worked for IBJ since
1974, serving in Tokyo, London and Los Angeles. Mr. Akiyama received his
bachelor's degree from Keio University, his master's degree from Oxford
University, and was a high school exchange student in the US.

Berdahl became UC Berkeley
Chancellor in July, 1997. Previously, he was president of the University
of Texas in Austin where he held the Walter Prescott Webb Chair in
history. Dr. Berdahl is a former vice chancellor for the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, at
the University of Oregon. Click here for more.
eorge J. Fesus
retired in 1995 as Executive Vice-president and Chief Financial Officer of
State Street Bank in Boston and currently serves as a consultant in the
financial services industry. During his twenty-six year career, he held
senior management positions in marketing, operations, finance and general
management. Mr. Fesus was born in Hungary and came to the USA in 1956.
eeve Gould a
fourth generation Californian, was an I-House resident from 1942-43 and
received his bachelor's degree in architecture at UC in 1943. He returned
to Cal and I-House in 1946 to receive his master's in architecture. He is
a board member of the Piedmont-Montclair Rotary Club, the Oakland Ballet,
and Cal Performances. A favorite leisure time activity is looking up old
I-House friends during world travels.

Hertelendy is a graduate of UC
Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in Communications and Public Policy
as well as in International Relations. She received her master's degree
from San Francisco State University. Born in Peru, she is currently
working with the International Diplomacy Council, the World Affairs
Council, and the California International Studies Project at Stanford.
ynthia La Mont
is the Financial Controller of Mandarin Oriental San Francisco Hotel,
responsible for accounting, purchasing, and facility engineers, while
overseeing legal matters and sharing varied responsibilities. She is also
a member of the Board of Directors of Mandarin Oriental, Inc. Ms. La Mont
received her Executive MBA from the University of San Francisco.
ames A.
Morrison is Senior Vice President of Hines, a leading international
property development firm with headquarters in Houston, Texas. He has
worked with Hines in San Francisco for ten years. Mr. Morrison is a 1982
graduate of UC Berkeley, where he
studied Anthropology and Landscape Architecture. He received his MBA from
the Tuck School at Dartmouth in 1987.
