1980's RESIDENTS HOLD REUNION

guests returned to the House on May 17 for the first-ever 1980's reunion.
On a warm evening under the olive trees on the patio, memories were
rekindled and friendships renewed.
ollowing dinner in
the Auditorium, Ariel Reich, 1983-'88, shared experiences that struck
familiar chords for many including his apprehension about leaving his
family that was soon replaced by apprehension about leaving new friends at
I-House. While at I-House, he turned from physics to law, met life-long
friends, and, like so many others, left Berkeley a changed man.

recalled an issue of the Intergnat student newsletter which, as a
practical joke, announced Sherry Warrick's resignation and called for a
petition drive to encourage him to stay. A long line of residents showed
up to sign the petition!
any enjoyed catching
up with the Warricks and former staff members Betsy Bacon, Art Flores,
Vangie Buell, and Barbara Lynch.
Kamran Nemati, Tracy Webb, and Ariel Reich caught up at the 1980's
Reunion.

admitted that his ten years in I-House was, perhaps, too long. Dianna
Previs left Stamatis Vokos at home with the kids in Seattle. David Clynes
came from Minnesota but the long distance award went to Grazia Busa who
was visiting from Italy. Suri Yenamandra spoke fondly of his stay at
I-House as second only to his marriage for the impact on his life. He
expressed his gratitude for a scholarship that allowed him to become a
physician and his hope to create an I-House scholarship to help other
students.

with the traditional Candlelight Ceremony and farewells . . . at least
until the next reunion!
