For a while now, I have been sharing the stories of International House alumni who have used planned giving opportunities to make very generous contributions to the House while preserving their own financial security. Because the variety of options are nearly as great as the different needs and financial goals of donors, I thought I would give you a sense of how planned gifts have helped donors and made a real difference in furthering International House goals.

Planned Gifts Received	Benefits to International House
Mary Dolores Marshall (IH 1942-43) provided a bequest in her will for International House that totaled nearly $70,000.	Funds were made available for building renovations and improvements.
Edith Loewenstein, mother of I-House alumna Anne Loewenstein Mollet (IH 1966), donated real property she no longer needed.	Funds were used to create a Resident Computer Center.
Charles Ramsden (IH 1931-32), established two planned gift annuities and provided a bequest of 50% of his estate. His planned gifts totaled $2 million.	A major scholarship endowment in his name was established that will help hundreds of students over time.
Dan and Eve Freudenthal (IH 1930-34) contributed to a pooled income fund to accomplish their goals of guaranteed income for life, current charitable income tax deduction, and a gift to I-House.	The Freudenthal fund will eventually support room and board scholarships at I-House.
Many alumni have donated appreciated securities to take advantage of the significant tax advantages.	Building renovations, scholarships, programs have all benefited from these gifts.

Contributions from alumni and friends to the Annual Fund have grown greatly in recent years. Thank you for the funding that enables International House to provide challenging programs, undertake much needed maintenance and renovations, and strengthen the House for future generations! The Annual Report for 1997-'98, which includes a full review of the year as well as the Honor Roll of Donors, will be mailed in December to all donors who made gifts of $35 or more during 1997-98.
