PLANNED GIFTS AND BEQUESTS |
Kate McClintock, Director of Development and Alumni Relations
The ties that bind many alums to International House are often expressed through their generous bequests and planned gifts.
This year three bequests from Harriet W. Mesenberg, ’37, Lester S. Currier, ’52, and Kathryn McCrodden in excess of $85,000 were allocated to support seismic renovations and capital improvements.
Several planned gifts, such as annuities and trusts were created to provide tax advantaged income for the donor and long-range financial support for International House. In this fiscal year we received over $70,000 in planned gifts and annuities for scholarships and general operating support.
As described in this issue of The I-House Times, the International House Associates of the Benjamin Ide Wheeler Society has been established as a way to honor donors for their thoughtful planned gifts and to encourage donors to take advantage of the many gift services offered through the Office of Planned Giving at UC Berkeley.
