Symposium
A three-day symposium, sponsored by International House, the Haas School, and the College of Engineering, attracted more than 350 participants for networking and to hear a stellar line-up of speakers including Cal faculty and Japanese business leaders.

I-House Alumni, Mr. Tetsuo Kondo (IH1954-55) and Dr. Kazusue Konoike (IH 1974-76) were key organizers of The 21st Century Economy: Technology and Entrepreneurship Symposium held in Tokyo. Mr. Kondo is the former Japanese labor minister and president of the UC Berkeley Japan Alumni Association. Dr. Konoike is immediate past president of the association and president of the Konoike Construction Co.

At an alumni brunch hosted by International House, Glen Fukushima, President and CEO of Cadence Design Systems, Japan addressed Cultural Challenges to Negotiating business Transactions. Dr. Nobuaki Kumagai, past president and professor emeritus at Osaka University, co-hosted a dinner for alumni in Kyoto.
