Four new members were elected to the International House Board of Directors at its May and September meetings.

Pamela J. Engel is co-founder and former vice president of The Good Guys! Inc. She was elected to the board of Trustees of Schools of the Sacred Heart, serving as Chair of the Board from 1992 to 1996. She also serves on the Board of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, the Salesian Boys’ and Girls’ Club and Kids’ Turn with special interest in Development and Strategic Planning.

David K. Leonard, Dean of International and Area Studies and Professor of Political Science, has been a Berkeley faculty member since 1976. Prior to that he served on the faculties of the University of Nairobi and Dar es Salaam. He has served as an advisor to the U.N. Development Program, the Food and Agricultural Organization, the World Bank, and the Government of Kenya.

Diane Sanchez is owner of Sunset Associates in Oakland, consultants in human resources, organizational development, and training serving local, national, and international clients. She also served as V.P. Human Resources for Bedford Properties and Director for Human Resources for Kaiser Development Company. She is a Trustee of the East Bay Community Foundation.

Rummi Sarin is a graduate of the Haas School of Business and an alumna of International House where she met her husband Arun in 1975. She worked for Coopers and Lybard for almost 10 years, has served as a management consultant, and is a CPA. Community activities include service to the Business Volunteers for the Arts, the Berkeley Repertory Theater, and the Children’s Media Club.
