MELINDA CARMACK MOVES TO HAAS |
A Decade of Accomplishments
After ten years at International House, Melinda Carmack, Director of Development and Alumni Relations, accepted a position at Cal's Haas School of Business as Director of Major Gifts and Corporate Relations. "This is an exciting opportunity for Melinda but she will certainly be missed. She made a remarkable contribution to tile financial well-being of International House by expanding support from alumni, friends, corporations and foundations," says Executive Director Joe Lurie.
During Carmack's tenure, the House saw a spectacular increase in contributions- from $184,000 in 1989-'99 to over $3 million last year- as well as strengthening of outreach to alumni and friends throughout the world. Carmack helped lead a successful Capital Campaign that topped its $3 million goal in 1996. She implemented annual gala Celebration and Awards dinners to honor individuals and organizations that exemplify the ideals of International House. Outreach to alumni around the world grew to include international symposia held in partnership with the Haas School of Business and College of Engineering. Carmack also provided visionary leadership in the development of the International House web site and established the groundwork for expanding online alumni services in the years ahead.
