NOTES FROM AROUND THE I-HOUSE |
The first e-mail edition of the Bay Area Bulletin was sent to more than 400 local alumni in October. The newsletter includes brief updates on programs and House news with links to additional information on the website.
To subscribe to the e-mail Bulletin, send a message to email@example.com with “subscribe” in the subject line. Bulletins will be sent every month or two.
Lodestar dinner programs bring alumni and residents together to share a meal and hear a distinguished speaker. Chairwoman of Amnesty International USA, Julianna Cartwright Traylor (IH 1968-’69), will speak at a Lodestar program on March 20. Call the Development Office (510) 642-4128 for reservations. The cost for the evening is $15 for alumni and their guests.
Dr. Roblyn Simeon (IH 1976-’77) spoke at a Lodestar dinner program for residents and alumni on November 16. Simeon is an associate professor of international business at San Francisco State University. He spoke on “The Changing Work Place in a Global Economy.”
Country Contacts Needed
Do you feel that you are far from International House? You can extend the I-House spirit of welcome by volunteering to serve as a Country Contact.
• Receive mail or e-mail inquiries from visiting alumni.
• Update address list, as possible.
• Send news of alumni in your area to the editor.
• Serve as a contact person when a House event is planned in your country.
We’ll provide an address list of alumni in your country. Multiple contacts in each country are welcome. To volunteer, please call the Development Office at (510) 642-4128. Your name and contact information will be included in the Times and on the I-House web site. Access to e-mail or fax is helpful.
Berkeley Nostalgia Web Tour
Lanfranco Belloni writes from Milan, Italy, “It’s good to visit the I-House web site, make a tour around the patio, then zap to the live view of Sproul and Dwinelle and on to S.F. Gate site and see the view from the Pyramid.”
