T wo new members were elected to the International House Board of Directors at its November 6, 1996 meeting:

Elizabeth Marstellar Gordon earned a degree in history and a teaching credential at Cal in the 1960's. Over the years, she has been an active member of the Northern California Campaign Committee for the Keeping the Promise Campaign, a host for Cal fund raising events around the world, Trustee of the U.C. Berkeley Foundation, and member of the Campaign Committee for the Boalt School of Law and the Haas School of Business.

Bishara M. Lawrence is President of B.M. Lawrence and Company, an international trading enterprise. Its import and export activities focus on agriproducts and machinery. He studied architecture and business at Cal and lived at I-House from 1946-1949. After leaving Cal, he was a Professor of Arabic at the Army Language School in Monterey. Lawrence currently serves on the Board of the Clay-Jones Building as Chief Financial Officer and is an active member of the Commonwealth Club, World Trade Club, and Japan Society.
