Who Me, a Racist? by Daniel Fountenberry "Contrary to my initial reservations, what I came to enjoy most about the I-House were the discussions and interactions that I had with people from different cultures and backgrounds. Not only did the insight I gained from my peers help me to better understand the world around me, but to better understand myself. From these conversations emerged the interests and passions that guide my life and the insights I will use to achieve my goals." The Spirit of I-House - a Ghost Story by Tania Tam "We're all different. But we're all similar, too. And being exposed to each other and each other's stories and thoughts is important. The International House is not just a place to live but rather a community of individuals. The I-House provides a forum for getting to know people I wouldn't otherwise get to know. And this kind of exposure has led me to consider new ideas...and to understand our differences and similarities." Borderline Differences by Amii Muu "The sooner one acknowledges what makes people the way they are and can learn to savour different cutltures rather than concentrate on the negativity that such a difference can create, real understanding will foster under the same umbrella that previously fostered misunderstanding. And, hopefully, as time wears on, such flowers of knowledge, understanding and acceptance will blossom and spread like addictive bacteria: the infectious germ of friendship." Today, I Wake Up! by Irene Fernandez "Today,
I wake up in a magic place. [Untitled] by Charlotte Gobder "The corridors of I-House echo with the laughter of every country imaginable. When a wide variety of people from all over the world can sit down and laugh at the same thing it makes one wonder why there is ever any conflict in the world...I witnessed the dynamic change of landscape from the East coast to the West coast of America, but every day in I-House I see the East meeting the West meeting the South meeting the North without a second thought. The world is as large or as small as you want it to be and there are no borders to be crossed within these walls." |
