Cartoons, Culture & Communication by Thomas Kjaergaard of

"The I-House has so many learning spaces, which together constitutes the best framework for cultural learning that I have ever encountered. However, whether you actually learn is not only depending on being within the framework; you have to interact with the people within it and invest yourself in the communication. Investing yourself includes being true to who you are and at the same time apply a critical view on your thinking, actions and cultural heritage. In the I-House I discovered that I did not always invest myself in the communication and that I had to be much more conscious about my choices."

"I soon learned that the friend he had spoken of discreetly before was Junko, his bride. They had traversed the continent six times each to maintain their relationship, gathering an assorted array of friends and memories from stops along the way. Their dedication to each other, illustrated in many miles traveled, defied my newspaper understanding that insisted that in Japan, work trumped love. Their gentle embraces showed caring, not calculation. And the room, dancing with diversity, riddled with faces from across the country and world, proved that my insistent lectures to him on the culture of America were unneeded."
