Room and Board Scholarship Opportunity for U.S. Graduate Students in Underrepresented Academic Disciplines
Graduate Advisers Invited to Nominate up to three students
Over the last three years, I-House Berkeley has piloted a graduate outreach program for Room and board financial aid specifically for US graduate students with financial need and in underrepresented areas of study at I-House. This year, we are happy to offer this opportunity once again.
We are offering a total of five 50% housing scholarships (single-occupancy in Regular Single Rooms - valued at $10,333 each) for the 2020-21 Academic Year.
Note: The US Graduate Outreach Scholarship program is now closed.
The Areas of Study included in this program are:
Social Sciences (Ethnic Studies), Languages & Literatures, History & Historical Studies (Classical Archaeology), Arts & Humanities (Art Practice, Performance Studies, AHMA), Anthropology, International & Area Studies, Cultural Studies, and Health & Medical Studies (Medical Anthropology joint with UCSF).
We are inviting you as the graduate advisers in these areas to collectively nominate up to three promising graduate students from your unit or programs to receive at least one of these scholarships for housing. Nominees must meet the following criteria:
- Be a new or continuing degree-seeking student at UC Berkeley in a graduate or PhD program from your Area of Study.
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Have demonstrated financial need.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Able to live in a single-occupancy room at I-House for the 2020-21 academic year.
It is our hope that the possibility of this substantial housing scholarship at International House will be a helpful tool in recruiting and retaining the best and brightest students for your graduate program. We ask that you discuss this scholarship opportunity as a team of graduate advisers and submit the names and details of your nominees using the online form found on this web page.
