International House realizes that not all resident stays perfectly match the Summer Session dates.  For information on stays that do not coincide with the Summer Session dates above, please contact the Admission Office directly at ihres@berkeley.edu.

Nightly rates apply for any extended stays due to early arrivals or later departures.  Short-term stays will be considered based on space available.

The meal plan includes a set number of meals at the International House Dining Commons as indicated in the chart above. The Dining Commons offers continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday and brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. Residents may bring in guests using their meal plan and may purchase additional meals at a discounted rate if they choose.

Summer Group Reservations

During the summer, I-House provides housing to a variety of student groups and campus visitors from around the world.  If you are the coordinator for an institutional affiliate or a departmental sponsor interested in arranging accommodations for a summer group, please contact the Summer Groups Coordinator, Queenie Santos at qcs@berkeley.edu.  We begin accepting Summer Group Reservation Requests in mid-January.

Additional Services Available

Linen packages may be purchased upon arrival for an additional fee. This package includes one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, one pillowcase, one blanket and a towel. The cost is $70. Pillows are not included in linen packages but may be purchased for $10 at our Resident Service Center.

Basic Eligibility

International House serves as a residence for undergraduates in their junior or senior year of study, graduate students, post docs, visiting scholars and researchers.   During the summer months, we house a variety of students at all academic levels, summer groups and conferences, and those attending Summer Sessions at UC Berkeley.  We also accept students who are affiliated with nearby educational institutions such as the Wright Institute, the Graduate Theological Union, Mills College, and St. Mary’s College or are completing a full-time summer internship for academic credit in the area.  While we do not require summer applicants to have junior standing, all residents must be at least 18 years of age for the duration of their stay at International House and be engaged in some form of academic work.
