Orientation Retreats

Residents at the orientation retreat

International House Berkeley Orientation Retreats for new residents and enthusiastic staff are now a 30-year tradition. Your retreat promises to be one of the most vivid memories of your I-House Experience. You will learn how to optimize your stay at I-House and gain a clearer understanding of the I-House Mission. Most importantly, the retreat is designed to facilitate new global friendships through intercultural exchange.

Cost: $33 per resident. Includes transportation, food, lodging, educational and recreational activities.

Please be aware that if you sign up, but do not attend, your $33.00 payment will not be refunded, since you will have prevented your space from being taken by another resident, depriving them of the opportunity to attend the retreat.

Spring Retreats: January 2012

Our site for the spring retreats is Walker Creek Ranch. This beautiful retreat site is located on 1,741 acres in pristine West Marin County about one hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge and is blessed with diverse habitat and an abundance of wildlife. There is a centrally located meeting room with bath-houses attached, and the cabins with bunk beds are in the surrounding vicinity.

Our site for the fall retreats is the Valley of the Moon Camp (VOM). VOM is a secluded retreat spot located in Sonoma County, north of San Francisco blessed with beautiful redwood, laurel, and oak trees. In addition, there is a ropes course, a large meadow with a swimming pool near, and areas to play soccer, basketball or volleyball. There are centrally located bathhouses and we will sleep in cabins with bunk beds.
