As our most affordable single room option, this room may be smaller or noisier than other rooms. This room is perfect for those coming to Berkeley on a budget.

Single

Our single rooms are private spaces designed for your comfort and convenience. Single rooms are perfect for focused studying and relaxation.

2nd Floor Single

Our 2nd Floor Single rooms are tucked away in our smallest, most secluded floor. While these rooms are similar to our Single rooms, the residents on this floor share two single-use restrooms with only a handful of fellow residents, ensuring minimal traffic and wait times. These rooms are great for those who prefer a more intimate atmosphere.

Bay View Single

These rooms are similar to the Single rooms but also feature gorgeous views of the San Francisco Bay. Many mornings and nights include picturesque sunrises and sunsets.

Floor Descriptions

All our residential floors comprise undergraduates, graduate students, and postgraduate scholars from different countries and a variety of academic disciplines. Our residential communities include shared bathrooms, small lounges, and other resource spaces such as small study lounges and our resident computer lab.

Each floor develops its own unique community dynamic that varies somewhat from year to year. Below are basic descriptions and specific features of each residential floor.

The 2nd floor is our smallest and quietest floor conveniently located a short distance to the library, dining, and other amenities.

The 3rd and 4th floors are our most populated residential floors featuring two small lounges. Our Resident Computing Center (RCC) is located on the 3d floor.

The 5th, 6th, and 7th floors have fewer residents, and each has a small lounge. The 6th floor is also home to our Historic Wing. Single Rooms in this area feature beautifully restored, antique furnishings from the early days of International House.

The 8th floor is home to our Women’s Hall.  Many female residents prefer to reside in a single-sex community for personal, cultural, and religious reasons.  The 8th floor provides such a space to around 40 residents.  The 8th floor also features a small lounge space.
