Resident Meal Plans

The I-House meal plan is Included in the Room and Board rates. The meal plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday and brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. On holidays, one meal is served. The resident meal plan includes a specific number of meals per week (19 swipes a week – one for every meal). These meals are not transferable and are use-it-or-lose-it.

The Weekly Menu provides a variety of meal offerings, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free selections. Although not guaranteed, special diets can usually be accommodated and residents may arrange a meeting with our dining staff to discuss any special dietary concerns or food allergies by emailing

Please note that the I-House meal plan can only be used at the International House Dining Commons and is not valid at Edmonds Café or on-campus dining halls and food services operated by Campus Housing.

The Dining Commons is closed on Thanksgiving Day, four weeks during Winter vacation, and one week during Spring Break. Cooking in rooms is not permitted.

I have always been fascinated in making acquaintances with people from different parts of the world. I-House offers plenty of opportunities in this respect. In particular, the Dining Commons offers a unique social environment where I can just sit and chat with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Having been an overseas student myself from a young age, I can confidently say that I have a very good understanding of the difficulties facing Berkeley international students, who may well be studying abroad for the first time in their lives.
