Resident Advisors

The Resident Advisor (RA) is responsible for student support services, safety and security, peer advising, policy implementation, crisis intervention, conflict mediation, community development, and administrative procedures. The RAs adhere to, implement, and uphold policies and the I-House Resident Handbook. The Resident Advisor serves as a resource to residents, promotes the values and mission of the International House, and encourages personal, social, and academic development of our residents.

RA’s can be reached by calling (510) 973 4663 for emergencies after the Front Desk closes. 

If you are interested in applying to be an RA, applications open in November and close in January.

My intercultural upbringing includes heritage from the United States, Türkiye, and Germany I am in my final year of studies here at UC Berkeley and wil be earning my B.S. in chill engineering. On campus, I have been involved in the construction club, undergraduate research in concrete, and most recently the start-up founder community, In my free time I love to be outdoors or on a stage performing. If I could recommend two spots on campus for food, I would say Yifang has the best boba and Agradolce Osteria has the best Italian food. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hello all! I'm Kayla, one of the RAs on the fourth floor. I am currently an undergrad majoring in molecular and cell biology with an emphasis in immunology. I'm also passionate about neuroscience and its intersection with immunology. I was born in Manhattan, New York City with Chinese heritage. Born in one of the most diverse places in the world, I've been exposed to multitudes of different beliefs, cultures, and ideologies and have since sought similarly diverse environment. I'm looking forward to learning about the different countries residents are from and can't wait to make new memories with everyone. I also enjoy hiking, reading, talking about anything Biotech/synbio, startups, and longetivity. Looking forward to having a great semester.

My academic passions include anything related to neuroscience, psychology, and healthcare. I'm also a ballroom dance instructor, so if you ever want to learn how to dance let me know! I love hiking, sunsets, and working out. I can't wait to learn more about all of your cultures and home countries and hopefully share them with you all at I-House this year.

Hello :) I"m Malavikha, and I'm a 4th year undergrad majoring in Computer Science anD Art Practice, with a minor in Data Science. I'm also an international student from Scotland, in the UK! I love to travel, and have visisted 33 countries so far. I'm fluent in English and Tamil, and am currently learning French, Spanish, Scottish Gaelic, and Hindi. I also do research at Berkeley Lab, teach CS/DS Classes, and am part of Women in Weightlifting, British students at Cal, and a sorority on campus!

Brandon Pundamiera

Hello! My name is Brandon Pundamiera, and I am currently a third year master of landscape architecture, and city planning student at UC Berkeley. Before pursuing my graduate studies, I had the opportunity to study as an exchange student at the university of Auckland in New Zealand, so I understand what it's like to be in your position. As a first generation college graduate, I earned my undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley where I major in ecosystems management and forestry and society and environment. I am from Carson, California (in Los Angeles County) and I am learning Tagalog to connect with my family in the Philippines. On campus, I enjoy staying active at the recreational sports facility (RSF), chilling on memorial Glade, and exploring the various libraries Berkeley has to offer. Hi I'm Obiamaka and I'm one of your 6th floor RAs! I'm a PhD student studying City and Regional Planning! I'm originally from Los Angeles, Callifornia. Hi! I am Catherine and I am one of your 7th and 8th floor RAs! I am an EECS PhD student studying robotics and AI and I spend most of my time making robots more intelligent! I am originally from Toronto Canada and speak English and a bit of French (which I want to improve, so looking for people to practice with!). Beyond academics, I enjoy travel traveling, reading, art (making my own or visiting musuems), and playing basketball. Resident Advisor for I-House Berkeley

Eligibility

This is a full academic year position, Summer – Spring semester. RAs are required to have registered status at UC Berkeley except when accepting RA employment during the summer term and if they are registered during the prior spring semester. They may not be registered during the spring semester if they graduated the prior fall semester.

Registered undergraduate or graduate student possessing a minimum 2.300 cumulative GPA and in good standing with the University at the time of application and throughout the period of employment. Please note that GPA does not round up. Having a GPA of 2.299 or below will make you ineligible for the position.

Full-time academic status (minimum 12-13 units per semester) during period of employment. Exceptions must have prior approval.

RA job is a 49% per week position. In this position, RAs are required to work an average of 19.5 hours per week.

Brandon Denina Pundamiera

Brandon Denina Pundamiera, comes from a Filipino family whose roots trace back to the Philippines since his grandparents immigrated to the United States in 1963. He is currently pursuing Master’s degrees in Landscape Architecture and City Planning at the University of California, Berkeley. Graduating with Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Society & Environment and Ecosystem Management & Forestry with a minor in Sustainable Design from UC Berkeley in 2020, Brandon is a first-generation college graduate. His research interests include: environmental justice, stewardship, sense of place, sense of belonging, and identity.

I was born in the Philippines and raised in Japan for most of my life, so I do resonate with both cultures. You may have seen me on I-House social media as I also worked as a Global Community Ambassador over the summer! On campus, you can find me working as a Research Assistant at the Bishop Lab, leading counseling workshops as the President of the Student-to-Student Peer Counseling club, or sailing (and likely capsizing) in the Berkeley Marina. Hi everyone! I’m Jordan, your 8th floor RA. I’m a senior undergraduate majoring in Chemical Biology with a minor in Earth & Planetary Science. I am also an undergraduate researcher with the Plant & Microbial Biology department. I spend most of my free time working on graduate school applications and reading academic papers at Yali’s (best strawberry smoothies ever!), but I also love to stargaze, hike around the Bay Area, and dance to Taylor Swift music! I grew up in Tampa, Florida, and I’m currently teaching myself Mandarin - I’m not quite good enough to hold a conversation but I’m working on it!
